The Stephen Doughton Jr. Foundation is a private non-profit founded by Stephen and his family in 2008.
In May 2006, Stephen was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML). He was treated at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (WFBMC) and is currently in remission. After enduring the horror of being a cancer patient and witnessing young children battling cancer, Stephen and his family decided to start a foundation in 2008. Since then they have raised over $200,000 for leukemia research and patient assistance.
A Record setting year!
The Stephen Doughton Jr. Foundation will donate $40,000 to the Wake Forest Baptist Cancer Center in 2019. Our largest donation to date. This donation will be used by Dr. Bayard Powell and his team to initiate research projects. With the results of this initial research, they are able to apply for and receive larger grants that will fund further research in finding new and better ways to treat Leukemia. Over the last 11 years, the Foundation has donated over $255,000 to support research and patient assistance.
We would not be able to do this without so many who participate in our annual golf tournament year after year in addition to individual contributions. Thank you for your support and we look forward to 2020!
The Foundation's goal is to raise money for
Leukemia Research and patient support and to increase
awareness of the disease through community involvement.
Through our fundraising efforts, we hope to provide financial
support to further help these doctors and scientists
improve treatment and eventually cure Leukemia
through research being done
at numerous levels.
