The Stephen Doughton Jr. Foundation is a private non-profit founded by Stephen and his family in 2008.
In May 2006, Stephen was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML). He was treated at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center (WFBMC) and is currently in remission. After enduring the horror of being a cancer patient and witnessing young children battling cancer, Stephen and his family decided to start a foundation in 2008. Since then they have raised over $360,000 for leukemia research and patient assistance. 2021 Golf Tournament
We are excited to have our annual golf tournament this year at Tanglewood Park Championship Course. It will be held on October 1, 2021 with a shotgun start at 8:30AM. 2020 Donation This year the Stephen Doughton Jr. Foundation unfortunately did not hold its annual Golf Tournament due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The health and safety of our participants is the most important and we knew it wouldn’t be the same during this unprecedented year. We knew canceling it would mean we wouldn’t be raising as much money for Leukemia Research and Patient Assistance as years past. However, our donors stepped up and we still received many donations! We are happy to announce we will be donating $20,000 to Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Powell and his team will use these donations to continue to find ways to improve Leukemia patient’s lives through research and assistance. |
OUR MISSION
The Foundation's goal is to raise money for Leukemia Research and patient support and to increase awareness of the disease through community involvement. Through our fundraising efforts, we hope to provide financial support to further help these doctors and scientists improve treatment and eventually cure Leukemia through research being done at numerous levels. |
